New US Shows

Just watched 3 US pre-air pilots to see what I could be watching this year. I'll tell you what, I was pleasantly surprised by all 3 and will definitely be keeping an eye on them.

quote:
Journeyman
Kevin McKidd (Rome) stars as Dan Vassar in this new series from NBC set to air in the fall of 2007. Dan is happily married with a son. It seems like he has everything going for him. Dan ends up traveling into the past. He changes people's lives, sometimes for the better, but sometimes not. During his travels he meets up with Livia Beale, he was engaged to her when she died in a plane crash. Knowing the future he has a chance to save her but how will that change his own future?

Wow I really liked that!

Yes some things you could see coming but if the main storyline is good, then
this could be a real keeper. The whole bit about Livia and her seeing him etc
could turn out really good.

I'm hoping this keeps going as I liked the actors and the characters. It's definitely got a hint of Quantum Leap from the 80s (???) yet with some new age stuff in there.

Airs: Monday September 24, 2007 (US)

quote:
Chuck
The O.C. creator Josh Schwartz, and director McG (We Are Marshall), bring us Chuck, a new series laced with humor about young twenty-something spies.

Zachary Levi (Less Than Perfect) plays Chuck, a nerdy computer tech who has a database of government secrets downloaded into his brain. Chuck soon finds himself recruited by John Casey (Adam Baldwin of Day Break), a veteran NSA Agent, for espionage work with his new partner (and first date in ten years) Sarah (Yvonne Strzechowski) -- leading Chuck to live a split life of computer geek and secret NSA missions.

Also cast in the pilot are Sarah Lancaster as Chuck's sister Ellie, Joshua Gomez as his best bud Morgan, and Natalie Martinez. McG will serve as executive producer with Schwartz. Chris Fedak and Peter Johnson are co-executive producers. On May 10, 2007, Chuck was officially given a series order by NBC.

I quite enjoyed that. The comedy was good and the actors fit the roles perfectly.

Sure there were a few cliches and some aspects of the show need ironing out but
it has potential for a season. Then we'll see how far it can go depending on
where they take the story.

Oh and go the hot aussie actress

Airs: Monday September 24, 2007

quote:
Life
Damien Lewis stars as a former police officer who, after years of false imprisonment, returns to the force with a decidedly different philosophy. Deadwood's Robin Weigert has been added to the cast of the series. She'll play the boss of Lewis' character, Lt. Davis. Sleeper Cell's Melissa Sagemiller will play the lawyer who got him out of prison that despite the fact that she is married, has a spark with Lewis.

Wow I was pleasantly surprised by that. After reading the blurb I was sceptical of another cop/drama show but it's so much better than I would have thought. What makes it even better is it's the same guy from Band Of Brothers so I know he's a fantastic actor.

The humour is subtle yet funny, there are the little quirky things like the fruit, the car, the husband of the ex and the tractor, so it adds that sense of realism. Actors are good and the women are hot (as you'd expect haha), and the dialogue is very good.

The best thing by far is his amazement at the technology. If you think about it, so much has changed in the last 12 years so it's no surprise to see him so stunned at the notion of 'Instant Messaging', handsfree calls in cars and pictures on phones. Love it

I have to also say that this could definitely be a top10 show if it keeps going the way the pilot went. Pick of the bunch for me. Keep an eye on it.

Airs: Wednesday September 26, 2007

The DVDs are freely available in the States, though I wouldn't be surprised if the stations did that anyway. That way they can check how it's received.

And you read that on EZTV you sly bugger

jekyll is a modern adaptation of the dr jekyll/mr hyde novel. i have only seen the first two episodes but this show has great promise.

the tudors is about henry the eighth, reasonably good as long as you dont analyse the history content too much along with who they cast to play henry.
