Challenge: A good gig setup for $1,000 or less.

I have a budget of about $1,000 to spend on a small sound setup for live gigs. I've been thinking about the 700W B-52 Matrix setup but I have a feeling that I could do better for the money. The $1,000 needs to include speakers, sub (if any), and amp(s).

This would be primarily for house parties. I spin electro and the two other DJs that I gig with on a regular basis spin trance and house. (I'm buying a setup for us to use because the guy that we used to borrow a setup from is moving out of state.) We usually spin in front of between 80 and 150 people. It really depends on where we are.

Suggestions?

quick ebay search:

AMP:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-CROWN-XTI-1...1QQcmdZViewItem
or
http://cgi.ebay.com/CROWN-XLS402D-X...1QQcmdZViewItem
or
http://cgi.ebay.com/QSC-2450-Power-...1QQcmdZViewItem (this is more powerful than the two above but dont be fooled, the crown watts are real watts, the qsc is budget watts)

SPEAKERS:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Mackie-S215-Hig...1QQcmdZViewItem (this is a single speaker. the seller has two for sale in different auctions) - a hard hitting speaker that will move good amounts of air and thus create more moving bass. the drivers in these eat crappy jbl eons for breakfast.

or

http://cgi.ebay.com/Electrovoice-SX...1QQcmdZViewItem (these speakers are truely great, only 12inch cones but dont let this put you off. they will kill that matrix system hands down. personally some of my favourite speakers and something you can keep and add to as your requirements broaden. ie, buy a sub or two and these will keep up)

ebay is where its at for pro audio imo. you just need to know what to look for

A second-hand single Mackie SRM450 and a SWA1501 sub. You might be able to get them for $1000 total. Got to have a sub for EDM.

A second SRM450 won't sound that much different in a small place. You can get one later.

+1 I used to use the Matrix 1000 for mobile DJing. Solid setup for the price. Should be able to get it for less than $1000 easily.
