I will have been married 2 years on the 8th of this month. I found that I had to limit myself on some songs I wanted to create because my wife would be offended about the fact that I'm either dwelling on the past, or complaining about my life with her. She takes everything, everything, very personally.

Now I'm in the divorce process, and I find myself feeling liberated that I can draw inspiration from whatever I want without offense, including my current marital situation.

False on all accounts. Gives them more inspiration.

One study of 425 men and women found that creative people had more sexual partners than non-creative people.

On that note i'd say True by a first glance, but not all marriages are as so. . . I mean you could get married and have one hell of a creative sex life which later manifests itself into an array of musical interludes climaxing with epic proportions.

So on that note, it honestly depends on the relationship. With out context for the relationship the answers will be based on subjective experience there for multiple answers of true or false will be given.

I fail to see a credible correlation between the two factors.

I dunno. Most of the best musicians, artists, and writers I can think of were either not married or had very unstable / unhappy marriages. So I was wondering what other people thought.

Try throwing out a few examples.

It may be true with the best creative people in any profession. I don't think marriage is a factor in any of this. It is all about the inability of the individual to have meaningful relation with a partner, when s/he is over obsessed with work. And this is true for all individuals who have such obsessions, not just the great ones.

In some cases it takes a really good woman or man for that matter to show some support for their mates passion. In contrast a musician may feel too passionately about thier work that it suffocates the relationship.

Jerry Garcia
John Lennon
Paul McCartney
Bob Dylan
Frank Zappa
The above are some of the very best song writers of the last 50 years, all of whom seem to have been just as talented while married as they were prior to marriage. Paul McCartney actually became demonstrably better following his first marriage and many would argue that Dylan's best works were his first three electric albums, which were penned after getting married.
