And I'm REALLY skeptic because it's half the price of what Logic Pro 7 was (only $500 vs previous $1,000). So I question the quality of it, i.e. what was cut, disabled, deleted, simplified?
its obviously a marketing ploy from apple but i don't understand why either... its not like they totally priced themselves out of the market plus they always had logic express for less.
i DO think that they just gave all the other daw's a big f.u. and will be the stiffest competition for anyone in the daw shopping market.
i had heard a few months back that logic 8 would have something similar to ableton's session mode which made me think people would start using logic for performances but what they came out with doesn't seem like competition for that.

Yeah, save the fact that you need to own a $3,200 machine to even use the software. Maybe they are betting on hardware sales to offset the cost of the software.

Im one of the first people in NY to be running it.. I can say it runs pretty nicely and the upgrades a very nice, though it does feel like a entirely new program and I am not quite familiar with it. I have used logic for 7 years and this version confuses me.......
I can promise you one thing they didnt remove anything, well from what ive played with thus far... But now i need to find the automation event list....

What I understand, they didn't remove anything... But they add 2 totally new features to this Logic. I think it looks very cool... And those samples sounds very convincing
Any ideas where I could get more samples to listen? On their page aren't so many samples...

for more than 2 years of development the featurelist is not really impressive.
If less is more think about how much more more would be.

I have to agree, the featurelist seems rather lacking. After looking through the lists of feature requests over the last 2 years I'd really have expected them to pay more attention to the requests of users.
I really hope they've fixed the multi-channel support, because no matter which multi-channel au i've every used it's given me trouble, from RM4/Battery2 and 3 etc..
A realtime freeze option would be fantastic too.

Fingers crossed that this makes Steinberg drop Cubase 4 to $500...
