But that story with my stepfather's laptop is true... From what he was telling me, he bought it in Canada, and then it broke down while he was in Europe, so he couldn't really go and return it to the original store he bought it from. So to get it working in the meantime, he always put it into the fridge for a little while, and then the screen would recover (also for a little while). It was just the screen itself that was malfunctioning, the other components were okay... and he didn't tell the repair person or the store personnel or the computer company personnel (or whoever it was that dealt with it, can't remember now) what he did with it to get it to work , but of course they replaced the computer anyway, cause it was brand new. Btw, the same case applies with my Bluetooth stick, I bought it in Europe with a one-year warranty, and it broke down a few months later when I was in Canada, so I couldn't go return it or even to send it back to my relatives to return, because I even lost the original receipt while moving. So I'm out of luck. (Murphy's law in action)


But... I really want to be able to move my messages... Motorola doesn't have any info about that, except that you can buy some software of theirs... But that's not gonna help me...

are you talking about SMS messages??

I'm not even sure there's a way to move them to your computer, SMS are short disposable message, not meant to be kept for later reference (see drunken texting).

I heard there is, I once read a discussion where some ladies were talking about how they saved some of their cell-phone SMS messges into the computer... for example, one lady wrote that she kept a beautiful SMS message that she sent or received (can't remember now) to her mother or father (can't remember either) before they died ... she wrote that she's keeping it as a memory ... so I assume there must be a way to do it...

There was a SIM card reader in the latest James Bond, maybe give MI6 a ring.

why dont you forward the message to your email?

I cannot do that, because I don't have e-mail set up on my cell-phone, I don't know how to set it up (and even whether my pre-paid service allows it), and there are way too many messages for me to forward each one individually (my thinking is that they would charge me for each e-mail separately, so it would come out to be quite expensive, but I'm not sure how it really is).

I was thinking that I'd be able to use a small memory card from my camera, put it into the phone and copy my messages on it, but then I found out that even that mini-small memory card which the camera uses is too big for my phone. So no success there either.

Got to PMALL they got a SIMC card backup unit. $10.00 - saves and stores your enitre phone book and sms. Ask them about it.

get unlimited text messaging bundle , and when you forward it put in the "TO" feild your email you want to forward it to. You dont need email setup on your phone do it. I am sure you carrier may have unlimited text on pre-paid.
