Why cheese?

I've noticed that quite possibly the most popular word used in TA (Apart from 'trance', 'dyk', 'tiesto' and 'svenson & gielen') is 'cheese'.

Used anytime a person wants to bring attention to their personal dislike for something.

Some questions about this.

If something is mainstream or 'poppy', yet is still awesome, is it cheese or not?

If something sounds cheesy to me (normally original mixes of tracks ie. PPK, Minimalistix, Ian van Dahl, etc.) is just cheesy to me. I dont expect others to find it cheesy too, but it usually happens anyway.

Cheesy for some reason means 'Annoying and cute and stupid'.

I've seen people label all hard house cheese, yet I find that while there are cheesy HH tracks (just like trance ones or R&B ones, etc.), there are also really hard and energetic tracks, or bouncy cheeky tracks and so on.

Why CHEESE?!?!

Thumbs up to ya man.

I also get pissed by everyone boarding the cheese wagon... Well that's musical snobs for ya (We all had, have, or will have that time when we just like calling all not-perfect-for-us music cheese), it moves on but as one learns, another enters the process
To me cheese means a commmercial tune that I do not like, simple as that. And it's SOOOO a matter of point of view, that I can consider Airwave, Stringer, Urban Train, Into the Night, For An Angel, Universal Nation, Out of the Blue etc. cheese, because everyone likes um so they become the uncheesy crowd's cheese. On the other hand, everyone here hates Sandstorm, Castles in the Sky and On the Move so wouldn't that make them the un-cheesy crowd's underground?

(Wake up an throw away the cheese obsession, there's nothing wrong with liking the friendlier tunes).

Support to all opposers of the cheese wagon

(P.S. take it lightly, this is music)

I find that a track also sometimes becomes cheesy when a new remix comes out by someone big.

Eg. On the Move

I love both the Dumonde and Original versions equally, each suite a different mood.

But when the Dumonde one came out, everyone I knew started saying that the Original was utter crap.
Why cant ppl like multiple mixes of a track?

As for the 'opposers of the cheese wagon', you take the reins and I'll *checks ammo* take shotgun.

Heheh, we should get Swamper to implement a 'cheeze-counter' on here...and each time someone posts a message with the words cheese or cheeze or cheesey, etc etc etc. the counter goes up by 1 for each word....hehehe, then we'd see how popular this word is.

As for cheezy tracks...some are good, some are bad...the bad ones are "cheese" cheese. The good ones..."swiss" cheese?

cuz there's alot of cheesy trance!!

but there is some cheese I actually like!! (Better off Alone, Kaycee, Foggy come to mind.)

I consider cheese as a sub-category, rather than an insult.

I'm not a big fan of Swiss chese, myself. I rather enjoy Havarti. Only Boars Head, too. lol.

Wait...music...ok, back on track now. lol

lmao, I've always kinda wondered why "cheese"? why not "bacon", or maybe even "medium well char-grilled steak"!?

And oDori, your getting mighty philosophical about cheese, ain't ya buddy? lol. "One man's cheese is another man's pribe rib!" Thats what I've always heard! hahahahah

OK, I'm hungry, bye bye

I think people like to be unique. Like, ravers are proud of the music they listen to and when other people start listning to that music, it doesnt have the same effect. I guess what Im saying is that people want electronic music to stay underground.

I dont know, I personally hate it when some of my friends come up to me and ask me if I've heard any ATC at raves. I guess cheese is that line that seperates electronic music from dance.....if that all makes sense
