Cool Converting to MAC, go with Digital performer 5 or Logic Pro8?

Greetings everyone!

I've been using PC's for a very long time, but now it's time to get a new laptop and the one that I am heavily considering is the Macbook Pro with the 2.2ghz intel dual core.

I don't want this to turn into a Mac vs. PC debate, so if there are any Mac users out there that can give me some input, I would appreciate it.

What is your opinion on Digital Performer as opposed to Logic Pro 8?

Style of music would be Progressive House/Trance etc. Will also be doing vocal editing as well as wav.

I'm basically a keyboardist and have been in to production for the last year or so. I've been using Reason 3.0 and a little bit of Cubase SX3.

I will be needing to get additional plug-ins and VSTs, depending on what you guys recommend. Currently I'm using a Presonus firebox with a Motif ES8 and Krk v6 series 2 monitors.

I want to go with a DAW software that I can stick with and that will give me the best results. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure how much help I can be since I haven't used digital preformer, but if I were to get a mac it would be specifically to run Logic 8. Logic comes with a very good set of plugins already. Of course you probably want more, but out of the box you're ready to make music.

With the price drop of Logic 8, this should be a no-brainer.

ive got logic 7.2 and run it on mac book pro 2.16 ghz ive got nothing to complain about its brilliant so much better than reason which ive used previously. Also you probably will not need any additional plugins to start with as there are so many to learn inside out.

Overall i would say do it and i think your production and workflow will increase noticably after the initial few weeks.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I am curious to hear from people that have actually used both. I have already worked a little bit with Digital Performer and messed around with Logic Pro8 at the Mac Store and really liked it.

I want to know from first hand experience which one is better than the other.

U would have to be crazy to buy a Mac and not get Logic. The only reason musicians buy Macs is to run Logic.

The samples/extras are always a plus. I am more concerned with the actual DAW software. How it handles plug-ins, handles audio etc. etc.
