Da proper review: Night of Utter Chaos and Good Tunage!
Got in at 11 with my friend Darryl. No hassle through reduced list line. Awesome
Did a quick tour of the complex and settled on Orange Room where Deadmau5 was just getting started. ZOEL, THE RULER OF UNIVERSE REIGNS!!!
He quickly warms up the crowd with the dirty and nasty beats to get the groove going. Love his use of breakdowns to build up the energy and slams down the filthy bassline. You heard the typical Deadmau5 mix of electro, tech and prog house and the crowd loved him. Good to see Joel enjoying himself like he's a kid inside a candy store.
Will def. see him again.
1am came did a bit more exploring because I didn't dig Cedric Gervais for the little bit I stayed. Tunes seemed standard Gallery type of house and the transitions were a bit sloppy.
Tried to get into whatever Loco Dice was playing but I just can't do tech house in a big club setting. Gotta be more dark and intimate venue. Oh well.
Settled at the Gallery where Uberzone was playing some kick ass breaks so I just chilled there for a bit until Carl Cox went up.
As expected, it was sardine can inside the main room but I knew that I'd regret not staying for Cox after Remo's fantastic review of Carl Cox from previous night so my buddy and I grabbed a slightly less crowded but suckier corner and proceeded to get destroyed.
Took a little bit for Carl to bring up the energy but once he started going, he was on fire. The tune selection to me were well balanced out between housier and techno tunes but seemed to mesh well. That little bit around 2:55 where the fog cannon went into overload mode and literally washed the mainroom in a big haze where you could see nothing was just plain awesome. Everyone was having a kick ass time and Carl Cox kept that energy going for another hour or so.
4am came and Carl slowed down a bit so did more bit of exploring. Checked out Tommy Sunshine in the Drink and he laid down your not typical electro house set. Very... eclectic. It got my head bobbing but wasn't really into it so I went back down to check out Carl again for few more mins but decided that I better check out Ferry.
When I got inside Kool Haus, it was packed, but not as stupid packed as the main room was. Ferry was playing really HARD, just the way I love it. He got my dancing mojo going overtime and I don't think I danced my ass off the way I did for a such long time.
I know I've been down on trance for a long time, but Ferry rekindled my innate love for trance and I was so happy to listen to good trance. I so wish trance to be number 1 in my life but oh well...
I left around 6am as my buddy was all pooped out. I knew I had the energy to see Ferry till the end, but oh well. Ferry still is my number 1 fav DJ
Overall: 9.5/10
Tune of the Night: Deadmau5 - Jaded
Random utterings
-thanks John and Jay for the hook ups
-the sound in all the rooms were near perfect. bass was just fine in the main room and the sound level wasn't ear hurting loud. forgot to bring my earplugs, and I don't have a ringing in my ear right now. (the drink was a tad bit too loud though)
-I lol'd at random chick who was walking around in bikini and straw hat like she just came back from Mexico
-always pleasure meeting new TAs
-decorations weren't excessive but done tastefully in KH
-saw that pervy Samoan dude with shirt off. UGH
-there needs to be more bass in the smoking pit area beside the Guv
-was kinda surprised that there was no KH entrance open and thought that there might be congestion to get in, but I got in pretty early so no issues for me there
-the club was packed, but not stupid packed. I guess Circa took a lot of people away
-where the hell was Lisa and Cale? You two disappoint me!
