What do you think about progressive psy ?

Hi all, I've been months away from this board, not because I don't like them (since I was introduced to trance by this board), but because I'm one tranceaddict not feeling good about the current state of trance.

In my journey I found myself involved in psytrance, but more lately in progressive psy, or progressive trance that sounds a bit psychedelic to be more accurate, and I've found much of what I've loved of trance there, lots of magical dreamy sounds.

So what do you guys think about it ???

My favorites are Vibrasphere (of course), Ovnimoon, Sun Control Species, Freq and last but not least ATMOS, he produces music that's very hard to define, ecclectic would be a good word.

PD: If you don't know these guys I'll post some youtube vids for you.

A sizeable fraction of TAs think it's the inheritor to the trance crown, but I never really connected with progressive psy. Too smooth, not nearly as distinctive as plain progressive in its best years, and nowhere the bite of 90s psychedelic.

Some good material, no doubt, but it never quite reached the bar of greatness for me.

today when trance is either fullblown cheese fest ala Armin and Paul van Dyk or boring electro reincarnations, prog psy remains probably the last type of trance with some dignity.
There are lots of good producers out there but I am a bit dissapointed that some of them have gone for a more electro sound (Antix for instance). The early years of prog psy are still the best imo when it was much darker than it is nowadays.
But yeah the future of prog psy is uncertain. I hope it remains underground and dark.

One of my absolute favorite genres, it's not really for home listening imo, more for parties, you need to listen to it a couple of times before you start appreciating it, and you gotta hear it LOUD. There's a shitload of really good artists making progtrance, but the genre doesn't really evolve much, don't know if that's good or bad though.

Favorite artists are: Son Kite, Double Dragon, Reefer Decree, Phony Orphants, Ticon, Etnoscope, Frogacult, Ace Ventura and Lish. There's tons of great artists out there.

Oh yes, lets ignore artists like Beetseekers.

Also, Progressive Psy is mostly dull, boring junk, and I rather listen the cheezy Trance.

Beetseeker and Miika Kuisma are probably the only two good melodic producers I can think of nowadays. And yeah thats about it. Care to name a few others?

Anything more would be music I enjoy listening, like Daniel Kandi - Nova. In other words, LOL OPINIONS.

Meh, I thought that first, but then I fell in love with the track. Subjective taste is a bitch.
