agent or not?

Hey guys!!

I'm new to the forum, but I have a couple quick questions. I'm 21 now, but producing and DJing has been my *life* for the last 6 years. I use logic pro, and have gotten (finally) to the point where I can DJ my tracks in a set and no one notices the difference between my tracks and professional tracks. I've gotten the thumping bass down, I've tamed EQ and compression, I know all about granular synthesis, basically, I read music articles all day long for fun, learning all the time. SO, given that I have no gotten to be getting gigs as a DJ on a fairly regular basis, the question is, do I need an agent for either djing, or for producing, or both? I have been laying in wait until I was good enough, but every day more and more people are telling me I should be farther than where I am. On the one hand, I don't want to lose my tracks to someone stealing them, so I don't want to just spread them around, but, on the other hand, I'm not sure what the most reasonable course of action is. Although I live close to Denver, Colorado Springs is not exactly an electronic hotspot... anyone have any ideas of how to sort of bridge the gap?

Any help would be appreciated!!

i feel a lot of sympathy for you, as I'm kinda struggling with a same kind of problem. But I live in the Netherlands, which is virtually Tranceland, the competition is much more fierce here then in Colorado (I think). Making this also the reason I'm sorry to say that your productions on Myspace sound quite generic and need I say it, old. Maybe old is a harsh word, its more outdated. But thats ONLY my holy opinion. And the fact that one guy tells you stuff you really dont want to hear, should not let you down.
For getting gigs on a regular basis, you should join A LOT of Dj Contests, send you're mixes to clubs and keep doing this until you are discovered. If you really want to have gigs a regular basis you can also HIRE an agent, but you will pay him more then you'll earn.
