Why is it

that people are sooooooo damn lazy. Every morning I see people race to get a seat on the train (pushing old people out of the way) to sit down for a grand total of 15min. They get off the train and take the escalator up so that they can rush to their desks and sit on their asses for ~8hours then they do the whole thing all over again at the end of the day.

People's laziness continues to amaze me and what makes it worse is seeing old people with canes and walkers looking for seats on the train while young able bodied people are lounging.

To his defense, Trump didn't even really look like a bum.

I ride the train pretty much from the beginning of the D line so I always have a seat to work.

But on the way home I usually just stand. I know it's rush hour and I don't really care to sit for the same reasons you stated above.

It's super funny. I think the stop in Chinatown is the funniest.

back when i was in college, i rode on the "slow" train, which took was a 30 to 40 minute ride for me one way. i would let the old people take the seats and stand for the whole ride if the train was busy.

chi, i think it's less about "laziness", but more about the "me me it's all about me" approach, not looking after other people's needs, including old people with canes.

Pushing old farts down the stairs is quite a lot of fun.

You can always tell apart the tourists and the residents of NYC. The tousits will give up their seat to everyone while the new yorkers will stare at them with a crazy look in their eyes

hahaha

omg i was complaining to my boyfriend yesterday how we were stopped for 25 mins at one stop because of a dog on the track 2 stop ahead of us.

ok it's not anyones fault and I'm glad they are trying to save the dog [btw how the fuk did it go up 2 flights of stairs, through the turnstile and fall onto the track??]. All these people are like "RUN THE FUKING DOG OVER" blah blah blah.

Cursing out loud.

That's not gonna help. It sucks sitting there when everyone just wants to go home but nothing is going to change with your bitching.

I want to go to New York just so I can experience one of those stereotypical abusive conversations between strangers:

"hey, move yo ass!"

"keep honking horn that, pal, and I'll come over and shove it right up ya butt!"

"I'd like to see you try, moron."

"Yeah, well, maybe I will, buddy!"

"Yeah, well, so would I, but you keep your ugly head right in that gas-guzzling car of yours, asshole"

etc

Also the stereotypical "whiny Jew" would be funny. We don't get them here.

i think its just a matter of preference. i am lazy, but i prefer to stand on subways and buses.

I didn't see it at all when I was working and living there for a few months, there was the general hum of sirens and stuff all the time and if you're really lucky a deep frozen hobo on your doorstep. Think it's probably more to do with the fact you're 'not one of them' and they tend to be fairly much friendly/weird as anyone else in the US.

Why people are lazy?
Think it's just the sheepish mentality of mimicking other's behaviour and following the path of least resistance through their lives.
It's why people get their stomach stapled instead of just putting down the fork, why they know they'll be fit by walking the long way around instead of the escalators, eat fast food instead of taking 5mins in the morning to make something that wont give them diabetes.
They just can.
It's convenient and as much as it'll come back to haunt them, they simply don't care or figure they'll do it tomorrow.

Problem is not many people in the world have the consideration for others. I find most people dont give a crap about others.. So more people (who would normally give up a seat) eventually stop being so nice and giving.. Simply because they've been nice in past and It's gone unthanked.

Nice guys finish last.

I still try and be nice here and there.. Not smoke near non-smokers, Give the occasional foreigner (Correct) directions etc.. But theres only so far i will go anymore. Easpecially if iv been on my feet all day at work or at a club. Fuck em.
