Dumb financial/banking/internet money transfer question
If someone (a random from the internet who's buying something off me) wants to transfer money to my bank account directly from theirs, will giving them my account number + BSB number allow them to do so? And is there any risk in giving them the aformentioned details?
I'm pretty uninformed when it comes to this kind of thing :| My dad thinks it's going to allow them to access my account and withdraw money, but he's always been paranoid as fuck so I dunno how safe it is/n't. So of course I do what one does in this kind of situation, and came to the internet for advice

If I was fucking crazy I would have just gone ahead and done it instead of trying to clarify first I mean it's no information that I haven't given to my job to allow them to pay me, but I guess there's the difference between a job and some random on the internet.
Basically I was just curious as to what having those details would allow someone to do.

Like I said, I'm ignorant when it comes to these things. I go to work, money appears in my account, I stick my card into an ATM and type in a number and money comes out. It's pretty bad I know, but I just don't pay a huge amount of attention to these things unless it potentially impacts me in some manner.
Anyway yeah, I got my answer, feel free to commence bashing me for being dumb.
