Alright Guys,

Need your help on this one, need a few questions answered...

1) Im saving up buy a set of CD decks and was wondering if a set of CDJ-800s would be sufficient for bedroom mixing etc? Or is it best to save up even more and buy the CDJ-1000 MK3's?

2) Is there much difference between the 800 & 1000? If so, what are the main differences?

3) If i got a set of CDJ-800's and practised on them for ages and got well used to its functions etc, would i be able to use CDJ-1000's if i got a gig at a club for example that had them? Are the basic functions mainly the same?

I intend to get a Xone 62 with this set up.

Going for the 800's would save me about £5-600 and im on a tight budget!

1) no point in buying the 1000's just for the bedroom.

2) not enough of a difference to justify the extra money for a 1000 only for bedroom use.

3)if u can use the 800's u wont have any trouble on the 1000

800s are solid.. some argue there's no point at all getting the 1000s...

I got the 800s for bedroom and I love them. The 1000s aren't worth it !

some extra features like hot cues and .02% pitch resolution

Ive heard people mention these hot cue's, what exactly are they?

Only those that oped for the 800 over the 1000 will tell you the 1000 isn't worth it.

For me the .02 resolution is a major factor, I'd sometimes like it to be .01, so people telling me that .05 is adequate are talking stupid. Another major factor for me is the track layout display, I absolutely could not live without this. For someone who doesn't use it, they have no place commenting onon. how useful a feature it is. Those that do will tell you it is an absolutely fantastic feature.

I'd happily pay an extra £100 each for those 2 features alone.

The 1000s ARE worth it, take it from a 1000 owner. There's no point in taking advice off an 800 owner, of course they're going to try to justify their purchase.

The bottom line is, if you can afford the 1000 then don't hesitate.

Though I'm not as militant as Jarv in support of 1000, but yes, I agree that .02 pitch resolution rocks. Though I have no trouble with .05, my mixing is tighter with smaller resolution. (Less slipping during transitions, and by the time I catch it, it's so minor compared to .05 which might make it a bit more noticeable.

It is an useful feature because while you should know your tracks, the display allows me to plan my transitions better by letting me see where the major breakdown is, or little minor ones I can use for phrasing, etc. I can plan longer transitions if it's possible and I didn't preplan this before the set and do like 3 mins transitions. Helps if you don't know the tune, you know approx where to start the transition.

i have an 1000mk3 and an 800mk2 and i think the 800 is just as good and cheaper
