Switching from 32 to 64

Recently i bought a quad and as i expected , it made sense . As i'm using a Tc Powercore Element and an UAD i was wondering if i can use all my plugins in a 64 vers of XP.
Do i need a special vers of my plugins or not ?
i'm not refering only to Tc & Uad plugins ...

Thnx

Theres no point in using 64bit, its too much hassle and you're faced with too much incompatibility.

/thread.

PS. The performance difference isn't what you think it is, unless you need 3gb+ ram.

i run 64 on the 2 computers i use for sample play back. WHen you start using large librairies , ram just gets eaten so quickly. having 8 gigs accessible really isn't that much .

64bit = an over-hyped nightmare.

The only valid reason for going to 64bit is if you need to address more than 4 gigabytes of memory. With memory prices falling, 8+ gigs isn't unreasonable...

Honestly though, if you set your tracks up right 2gb of memory is plenty.

Also, the 64bit version of WinXP is a piece of crap, it's more of a Microsoft experiment in 64-bit desktop computing than anything else.

In a few years, after they work out all the nightmares of Vista and release a few service packs, EM64T on Vista will be a good solution.

Until then, 32 bit is just fine. The successfully use 64bit (and see any sort of gain) you need all applications, drivers, and operating system code to be 64bit native. A hard thing to fulfill now. Heck, it's hard enough to get stuff to work on Vista let alone 64bit.
