Help a trance newbie

Hi, been listening to all sorts of trance recently, and am now starting to know what i like and don't like. Basically, because I'm still discovering this, can someone point me in the direction of more stuff that I would like? Two tracks that I just LOVE are Jessy "Look @ Me Now" and Candee Jay "Lose This Feeling". Anything else I should check out, bearing in mind these two tracks are just right up my street? What sort of trance genre is this? Thanks!

If you like Jessy check out the likes of DJ Sammy, driving trance at it's best.

Boys of Summer is my all time favourite.

In case you are not aware of the site, I'll point you in this direction: www.discogs.com

Search for those artists, and you'll find all of their releases and any aliases they use or groups they are members of. You'll also get an idea as to what genre they're considered. I wish someone had pointed me to that site during my "discovery" of trance. Hope that helps some.

it's not strictly trance there, more commercial dance music, which is produced with the slightest hint of 'trance' or whatever style it's close to and then made to be as commercially appealing as possible. It sells well because people always want to hear it, but for nearly everyone on this site, it's not a good style at all.

However, I'd suggest you checked out the newer stuff on the following labels

Anjunabeats
Armada music

as it's probably right up your alley

It's not Trance...

Anyways, that's how everyone gets started...try sets from Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Paul van Dyk, and Above & Beyond.

However, you can save yourself a lot of time if you just go straight to House instead...

Since you're new, I suggest you check out some of the older trance sets you can download from this site. Start with the Ronski Speed and Nu Nrg sets, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

back at you. I suggested them because of the sounds they've been putting out. Don't give up the day job though, whatever that may be.

So let me get this straight: You dismissed the OP's suggestions as cheesy, commercial dance music, and then your fantastic alternative was......cheesy, commercial dance music?

In all honesty, telling someone to drop the Lasgo and DJ Sammy tunes and pick up Armin and Above & Beyond is like saying "Hey, don't smother yourself in shit. You'll smell terrible afterward. Here, smear on some manure instead."
