Looks like Adobe Audition 3 supports VSTi instruments and now has a piano roll. Seems they're trying to compete with the other DAWs now.

Personally I don't think this a good idea.
Audition is pretty much an audio editing/mastering tool.
Trying to compete with sequencers is just trying too hard.
