My TranceSound.net Interview with Filo & Peri

(Don't rag on me too much for this...some of the questions were submitted by the members)

How did you two come together as a team; and when did you first meet?

We first met through a mutual friend who knew we were both in our early stages of making music! We spoke online for a bit and then met up and our first endeavor together was signed to a state of trance. From there, we decided to keep working together and here we are today!!

How does it feels to emerge as one of the best New York City duo’s and what do you like most about coming together as a band?

I think both of us were a bit apprehensive about coming together as a team because we are quite different people and both very hard headed. Fortunately through our very diverse musical interests and personal interests it has forged a very strong and sometimes different sound in our tracks.

How did you hook up with Kathleen Fisher for the track “Ordinary Moment”?

We actually found Fisher on the web and wrote to her and her husband and asked them if they would be willing to lend their rock sound to dance music. We had a strong feeling the two would fit really well and hence closer now and ordinary moment came to be!

Was the production of the track “Ordinary Moment” prepared after to the vocals were heard or the opposite?

The track actually went through at least two different versions before we came up with the final two mixes—all of which were created from the vocals.

Who came up with the idea for the track “The Anthem” with Eric Lumiere; and whom were the lyrics written by?

Eric Lumiere came up with the idea and the lyrics for the track. It was written as a school project. We knew when we first heard the idea that it would fit perfectly into what we do. The track delivers a very universal message and we believe that music truly is a universal language.

Is there any particular reason that the track "SD vs. FNP - Need You Tonight" was released under the FNP alias instead of Filo & Peri?

We decided after releasing tracks in different genres like house, and electro house that it was best to stick with the sound that we normally DJ with for Filo and Peri which is mainly trance music.

Since the both of you have been traveling the world, and have had the experience of playing hundreds of gigs together in so many places do you think fans over seas are more appreciative of EDM than the fans in the states?
We’ve seen that people in different regions are appreciative in many different ways. Our recent trip to Asia really impressed us. The people in Asia really embrace both the music and the artist and we felt really happy to know that what we do everyday makes people really happy!

What are your biggest accomplishments to date?

Our biggest accomplishment to date is the fact that even after all of the things, which have happened to us over the last four years that we remain great friends and a strong team. Sometimes it’s not easy to keep things level when you start to gain success.

What other projects have you been working on since the release of the "The Anthem" with Eric Lumiere?

We have worked on quite a few projects with Eric. We have actually touched in both trance and progressive with some of the new stuff. Most of the new stuff will probably be used on our next single and the album.

Out of all of the events that you have performed at such as Gatecrasher, Dance Valley, as well as clubs worldwide which would you say was your greatest performance and which did you enjoy the most?

Well we did not perform at Dance Valley as much as we would like too. But Gatecrasher has been the most amazing show to date. There is no greater feeling in the world than seeing thousands of people sing the words to the song you worked so hard on. It’s a musical drug that is in fact very unique and rare!!

Have you even considered starting a monthly or weekly radio show?

Maybe if the right opportunity came along we would. But it’s very hard to maintain a radio show. A lot of work goes into them and if we are going to keep making a lot of great tunes there is only so much time in a day!

In closing is there anything else that you would like to share with your fans?

Thanks for the best years so far and hopefully many more to come!!

Thanks again for the interview and TranceSound.net wishes you the best in your future endeavors!
