Advance One - Lost Between Worlds

Hi, this is my new track "Lost Between Worlds". I wrote it at a time when I was feeling lost trying to make decisions about the future, but it's quite a positive and uplifting track.

It's one of several trance tracks on my new album "Time To Wait" which will be available to download free later this month from my website www.audiotransition.com

Download Advance One - Lost Between Worlds (full 192kbps)

thanks

I've been facing some serious upcoming changes and life-altering decisions as well. I feel the tension and the phaser-dirty synth-gate from the get-go.

Good bassline. It's a simple offbeat which makes it feel dated... but at least it's good.

You have good space in-between your parts. They don't smash together in order to create a tempest of sounds. However, at that, this track doesn't have the high-energy of modern epic trance, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I do not like the way the side-chained pad is mixed. It sounds plastic to me.

I love the lead! That's got a good FM richness to it.

The strings afterwards sound like they could use some more processing, reverb, or some panning/flanging, etc. In all, the track feels just a little too dry, IMO.

I think the breakdown could have been better. The kick seems to lose some of it's energy, which makes me think that the track should have been compressed differently, or the kick mixed at a higher level relative to some of the other elements. The kick seems to fall behind the side-chained pad, which can cause the track to feel more like ambiet trance -- not a bad thing, but it may not be what you really want to happen.

Interesting melodies. Some of them are more memorable than others, and the feel of this track is more old-school, and somewhat MIDI-ish at the same time. Your track has a clean sound to it, and that is definately a plus. In your future productions, you might want to jump up your time spent in the mixer and push yourself to season and pepper your parts to ultimately polish your elements up to a higher quality. You could also experiment with breakbeats, rolling basslines, and other nuances in order to accelerate your learning process as a producer. You show that you have learned much already, and I am not trying to put you down. I just see so much potential...

Good luck...
