There seems to be a lot of opinions surrounding the difference between these two digital turntables. Does the hot cues really make a difference? Does the jog wheel really work better on the 1000's? Is the "difference" really worth the extra $ 600.00? I have used both and I honestly dont see a difference. If any one has experienced between the both of them, share your opinions! Cheers!

theres also the cdj-400 to consider now,
i have the mk3's and love them,
but would be happy with the 800mk2's and the extra cash still in my pocket,
if your gonna use everything on the mk3's then go for it,
if not... its definitely not worth the extra money

There is no difference at all to justify paying that much more. To be honest with you i would look into a Denon table top Cd player. They have way more features than the CDJ's.

Remember, The technic and pioneer table tops have one thing. Their name. Yes they are built strong and have been in the game a while but that name is the only thing they have right now. Many prefer those brands for the name as they should, and have seperate effect controllers and samplers but Denon and Stanton are taking it further by making table tops with many features loaded in that can perform just as good if not better. If your thinking of digital give Denon a look.

But to answer your question, No not really. lol.

If I were you I would either get the 800's or wait for the 400s.

Pioneer > Denon

I cant wait to play with the 400's. But with those coming out pioneer will really have to re engineer their lineup of table tops.

To answer your question, since I was in the same dilemna before.

The 1000 has 2 things over the 800's.

One, hot cue's/loop's,
Second, pitch resolution of .02 (i think)

which where my buying decision to go with the 1000 mk3's instead.

Now that I think back, kinda wished I got the 800's intead. I never use the hop cues and 0.05 pitch resolution is just as good.
So do what others here have advised, go 800's or look into denon or stanton. They really do make quality players now.

one thing i was worried about when switching to didigtal was not being able to see what was happening on the track (ie, reading the vinyl while it was playing), with a 1000 you have the waveform display to do this, its ideal for early mixing points, so no regrets for me in buying the 1000's

Also, i'd rather get used to what i'm playing on in clubs, even though the 800 is very similar, i still would rather play on the same equipment. Obviously there is the extra cost, but IMO its worth it

For those of you that use Serato or Traktor Scratch ect. then look into a CDJ-800 MK1 and maybe a CDJ1000 MK2. These models you can find for way cheap. The thing about them is they will not support a mp3 data cd but if you use Serato that does not matter and they are almost the same table top. Good way to save some cash

There were SIGNIFICANT changes from the CDJ-800 MK1 to the MK2, primarily the jog wheel and build quality.

And yes, if you intend on using a DVS (Serato, Traktor Scratch), then just go with the 800MK2's. The features you'd gain from jumping to the 1000 (wave display, hot cues) are all available in the software anyway, and the wave display won't even work with timecode.

And it'll still cost you a lot less...
