To look on the bright side, we have to imagine that the few labels connected with Amato who still refuse to part with vinyl might take this opportunity to make the move into the digital world, or the ones who already do might be convinced to speed up their distribution methods. This was just a surprise for me to hear yesterday finding out this news as it was with the other labels who were represented by Amato. No warning at all. People are saying this could be the final nail in the coffin for vinyl, and of course we're hoping they are wrong. However this is going to cause some serious set-backs.

lets not forget some of the really important and popular ones like kompakt, buzzin fly, bpitch, border com, cr2, crosstown rebels, poker flat, rekids. i guess even these giants arent selling records anymore.

His source is most likely some blog - not exactly reliable (that's where other posts I've seen lead). I asked some friends because I was curious if it was just another rumour - but from what's been explained to me, it's true. It looks like there are only two major vinyl distributors left within this industry; Astral and Discomania.

Whether you want to take my word on this or not is your call (I'm just adding to the rumour mill I guess), but I just spent some time looking into it because I was rather skeptical myself.

Ah well. Thats the way it goes. Not too many pro's are longing for the days of film cameras, or 8 track. There is more money and exposure to be had in Digital anyways, so I don't see why the artists would care in the slightest. The only thing that I care about is that they're still making timecode ones

I do, however, regret that a bunch of people lost their jobs - hard to lose a job in a dying industry, knowing that you won't be able to get another one. Quite sad =\
