ZR-013 Matt Dubois - The Emulsion EP [Zuvuya Recordings]

OUT NOW
ZR013-THE EMULSION EP

TRACKS INCLUDE

1. BE LESS THAN HOW
2. SATED

Matt DuBois was raised by wolves in the Alaskan wilderness after his parents were crushed under the weight of their own genius during a family vacation in the area. As a young adult he was discovered by Shell Oil employees doing repair work on a section of pipeline. They were able to lure and capture him by playing a Journey greatest hits CD for 9 days straight. Rehabilitated into a suburban world he neither understands nor enjoys, Matt finds release only through hunting, feasting, and music. Currently living in the city of Chicago, he is recluse and shy by nature, still possessing a desire to bite most creatures he comes into contact with. While you may see him playing live in the Chicago area in the very near future, do not incite him with sudden movements or overly-aggressive behavior.

See what people are saying about these and other zuvuya tracks at:

Another release from Chicago label Zuvuya (run by fellow AMP artist Avex Axiom), I really am not feeling "Sated" at all, but I'm absolutely enamored with "Be Less Than How." Borders on banging techno, it will also make for some really solid tech house remixes.

Check it, samples at BP.

I don't think there's been a single release on Zuvuya that I've deemed worthy of purchase.

Most of the stuff obviously lends itself to the more "bangin" techno DJ's out there - and a lot of it is definitely stuff I struggle to get into, but there have been a few releases from the likes of Adam and Brad Miner that I have really liked.

The one massive issues, however, is that there are a few tunes that have been released that really, really weren't finished (phrasing is off, mastering isn't spot on, etc.).

Regardless, I can definitely see why a lot of folks may not get into the Zuvuya stuff - it definitely isn't for everyone.

That's my biggest gripe, and I think it's served to kind of generally rub me the wrong way about the releases.

Yeah - that makes a lot of sense to me, and I actually wound up having to essentially "finish" one of my favorite tracks they put out.

It is, however (and this is really of little consolation atm), something that Adam and Gabe know about and know they have to work on - and I've got faith those fellows will keep working hard, so we'll see where Zuvuya goes from here.

Also, some of the Zuvuya tunes that I absolutely cannot stand sound outstanding when played by proper techno DJ's. Sometimes I think those guys brains just function on a completely different level than mine - like in a manner I can't even comprehend that works to take some weird sounding shit and turn it into a monster on the dancefloor.

Peter Grummich - The ventilator is a cracking track..

Probably not to everyones taste but i love it.

Apart from that it's not a label I really pay much attention to.

I too like that Grummich track - that release in general was pretty solid if I remember correctly.

For me though, it's still been the Miner release and "JMC Wiggins" that are my favorites.
