Hi guys,

i'm tryin to fix a friends laptop - basically, msn / yahoo messanger are fine, but internet explorer / firefox just wont work.

i cant ping addresses.

using vista home. cant figure it out...

any sugestions?

Windows Firewall issue, perhaps?

reboot the internets.

i tried disabline the firewall.. still no joy...

there's some other internet security on there too, but i cant seem to find anything there..

What other security? Like Zone Alarm?

any way of resetting ur dns settings in vista ?

Check the event logs: http://www.windowsnetworking.com/ar...dows-Vista.html

You might see some clue there as to what is failing.

I know in XP you can right click on a network connection icon and click "repair" and it will flush all the old cached settings. I do not know about Vista, however.

It has alot of unnecessary security, from what i have heard. I refuse to use it.

ya, i have to use it at work.... (sw dev)

everything takes so much longer... change ur password in active directory... the wholw thing just freezes and ye have to reboot..

it's SHITE!!
