CDJ 800 mk2?

i bought a cdj 800 mk2 about 18 months ago and the platter was really loose. although i adapted it and now it works perfect for my mixing. however i bought another cdj 800 mk2 about 1 week ago and the platter is really stiff. was the model updated in the last year?

when i touch the platter slightly in my older one it gets in sync with the incoming track in a second but the newer one needs to be turned about 180 degrees to get in sync. when i touch it a little it doesnt do anything. i dont no if theres something wrong with the cdj or the model was updated.

anyone know or have this problem?

also can you loosen the platter?

cheers

unsure about the platters on the 800's/1000's but i know the 200's and 100's can be stiff if they are pushed down too much on the spindle(it rubs on the casing underneath). i gently pulled the platter on my cdj200 up equally around the whole thing by about 1mm and it was a lot more smooth.

interesting. so do you think this could have happened in the factory?

i dont want to fuck about with it incase i break it. might call into the shop tomorrow and see if i can check out another model.

edit: how did you raise the platter anyway?

according to this thread :http://www.wavemusic.com/community/...read.php?t=6951

you can adjust the tension on the platter on 800's as well, though you have to pull them apart to get to the part.

Nope - that's for the speed at which the tracks starts from a total standstill, or how long it takes to stop from going full speed.

Only the 1000s have a legit twisty nob for adjusting the stiffness of the platter.

Back to the thread starter - the behaviour of the platter in as far as how it adjusts the track when you spin it could be down to firmware. Obviously the physical tension of the platter cannot be affected by firmware, but sounds like you could do with updating the pair to the same version.

i unscrewed both cdjs just to see what they were set at.

the older one is set at -2 and the newer one is set at 0. so im guessing this is definately the problem. i havent adjusted it yet. i dont know whether to do it myself or bring it to the shop.

Might as well do it yourself as once you open the cover you void all warranties.

Unless it's REALLY loose, you better leave it alone.
