Exclamation Traktor DJ Studio Sync?

I'm having trouble syncing songs with Traktor. It syncs when I press Sync but then after a little bit it falls out of sync and sounds really bad. How do I keep it synced the whole time? I used to use a program called Atomix Virtual DJ Studio and the sync button worked flawlessly.

Any help would be appreciated

not to be condescending or anything, but you really shouldn't be expecting the sync button to do most of the work for you. its called beatmatching

The sync button isn't that accurate. Use your ears and beatmatch.

Its decent so long as there isn't much going on in the bass apart from the kickdrum. The line certainly helps tons though... I mean you can tell where it is down to a quarter.

Well I saw a video where someone was mixing using Traktor and he showed the right way to sync and the wrong way, the wrong way sounding the way it does when I do it. And when he changed something it sounded perfect, the beatmatching.

I was hoping someone could tell me what the guy did to make it sound synced.

I usually use my ears, the bar and pitch bend. If you leave it on sync as soon as one hits a break or something unusual it'll go wtf and totally stuff up.

In the full version of Traktor Studio, you really have to set the beat grid manually (or at least correct it) if you want the sync function to work reliably. This is akin to warping tracks in Ableton (though Traktors mechanism only works on tracks with a steady beat).

The program does automatically analyze your tracks, and many times it's quite close if not dead on, but you'll want to double check the beat grids before relying on the feature.

Although I certainly advocate learning to beatmatch by ear, I do see the auto-sync features merits.

Traktor supports running 4 decks simultaneously, so it really becomes possible to achieve some of the same results you could get using Ableton. Without the "sync" feature it would be next to impossible to pull these off. And not everyone wants to DJ out of ableton....

the sync button wont hold the two beats together for the whole track so you have to use the nudge buttons. The two arrows facing in the opposite directions of eachother to nudge the tracks forwards or backwards depending on what you want.

Sync button will work good enough if you round the BPMs for each track to the nearest whole # (for 99% of songs - there are a few songs that aren't whole number BPMs such as Moogwai - Viola (AvB Remix - and assuming you aren't mixing vinyl rips).

Try rounding to say... 134.00 and 140.00 and mixing your tracks like that, you should notice a HUGE improvement.

That's got to be a pain doing it with four tech 12s.

4 1200's? Umm, I don't think anyone would be stupid enough to attempt to do that seriously. Even 3 decks isn't done very often. And who want's to buy more than 2 1200's these days?

I can beatmatch by ear just fine with CD's and vinyl, but I realize why these features exist and can see them being useful if you're not using them to compensate for lack of skill.

And if you properly beat grid your tracks in Traktor, they WILL stay in sync for the LENGTH of the track. But you need to prepare them ahead of time.

What if you wanted to sync up a track with a long beatless intro? Good luck dropping that in time without some assistance from the SW... at least Traktor provides a DJ friendly environment to accomplish things like this, unlike Ableton.

Think outside the box!
