remixes that sound nothing like the original.... why???

for example...

blank & jones - desire (4 strings remix): sounds NOTHING like the original, but its a MASTERPIECE. the kind of song that causes tearing on occasion. why didn't 4 strings just release it as their own song??

dj tiesto - sparkles (transa remix): total departure from the original, but it OWNs the original, in my opinion...

probably some other examples... can't think of any right now though.

why do they even bother remixing if they're just gonna come up with a new tune? is it cause they want to use a well known producer's name to promote their tunes? i dunno.... holy shit.... physics exam in 5 hours, haha... better get back to studying, =P.

I'd say the worst culprit in my opinion is Accadia - Into The Dawn (James Holden Mix) - The original is a chillout tune with none of the same melodies or even vocals...
I dunno why they do it...maybe if they even use a remotely similar melody or the same hi-hat or something they have to name it as a remix..
Could be the popularity thing too.
I'm thinking that another possibility is that these songs start as simple remixes but the producers gets creative and adds his own touch eventually moulding the songs into something entirely different.

Either way I don't care what it's called as long as its good...

my guess is that they get hired to remix it, and in the process, they totally alter it. But they still label it as a remix, because they were hired to remix it.

Also, out of respect for the original artist who gave them the basic grounding / inspiration for the new work.

Yeah well, you've got to remember that the artists are approached to do remixes, they can't just pick and choose. So, if they get the opportunity to do a remix - and the money is too good to turn down - then they decide they can't do anything with it, they may decide to depart from the original mix entirely. Case in point: Vengayboys - Kiss (Airscape Mix). I'm guessing that they accepted the remix, realised they couldn't do anything with those cheesy vocals so decided to produce a tune from scratch.

Or then there are cheeky gits like Matt Darey who, with his remix of Blockster - Grooveline (you all know the one) just handed them a track he'd already produced.

The original Warp Brother's Blast The Speakers sounds totally different to the one they released a few months ago. Why? I prefered the original.

If people are asked to do a remix then they can really go to town with it. There should be some aspects of the original but a remix is about putting some of your own style into the original. A remix really promotes the remixer and nothing else. E.G every track by Schiller always has a Humate remix, and this is always the one that makes it. Also Timo Maas' mix of Dooms night, nothing like the original, but how much promotion did he get of it, loooooads!!

Another good example of this is Vengaboys - Kiss (Airscape remix). Why even call it a remix?

with this i think he did that to get promotion, cus grooveline was a chart success. so with this pumpin trance tune thrown on the release aswell people would get to hear matt dareys tune aswell without specifically buying it
