Somewhat old news (there's been a thread in the gaming forum for a while), but I thought a lot of you who don't look there very often might appreciate this as well.
In any event, I decided that this afternoon I was quite fucked off with studying and decided to spend some time with this game. We used to have a lot of when I was in school @ Stevens Point getting pretty mashed and watching and/or playing this game.
Really an excellent combination of EDM and gaming that any of you who haven't checked it out, should.

Oh man this game is fantastic, one of my all time favorites. It's really a great combination of sound and visuals, the game being HD just makes it that much better. The tracks are pretty varied and enjoyable (at least in my opinion) and the way the games set up they never seem to sound exactly the same as you play through the different areas. It seems really simplistic on the surface but there's actually quite a bit of depth to the game, especially with the new Xbox achievements.
Watching or playing while under the influence is also a blast. You really can't beat 12 bucks either, top notch game.

hah yeah, a thread over at somethingawful was how i found out about it, i was thinking it was gonna be about underworld too
nonetheless, fucking sweet game
oh and i've had a theory for a while that the music i write sounds like what i was listening to a month or two ago
last month i was playing rez a lot, haven't played in at least 2-3 weeks, and last night i wrote this out of nowhere
Your actions in Rez directly affect how the track is played out, each level being centered around a specific song. As you progress through each zone the track builds and builds and different effects and layers are added. Once you reach the boss at the end the music really reaches it's peak. It's a really great effect.

Wipeout is a great game - but it's effectively just a racing game with an EDM soundtrack.
Rez actually uses music as part of the gameplay, without it being a "rhythm" game (as we know all too well, white folks got none).
It's just the combination of the music and the weird existential kind of "story" that I think puts this one in a class of its own.
Very true. Only played REZ a few times at a friends house, but now u have sparked my interest, and I'm going to track it down for my PS2!
