I'm sure alot of peope on here are ahead of the game, but for those who aren't here's a warning. I (not my doing) recently caught it on my computer.

For a solid month I've been getting messages from over a dozen people on MSN like "Hey look at the new colour of my hair", "I just took a pic of a crash outside my place", "Look at my man boobs" "check out my myspace pics". etc

The pic is always sent as a zip and if you open that zip, you have clicked an executable file that will then start sending this via your msn to your friends.

I spent an hour seraching the interweb for a way to get rid of it. My virus scanner wasn't removing it. Luckily for me I have no important files on my primary HD and everything is on a back up....makes for an easy & quick format. So I formatted my HD and back to new again.

Has anyone else had this? How did you get rid of it? Has anyone tried http://www.msnvirusremoval.com ?

I've seen this method of removal posted all over the place http://www.liewcf.com/blog/archives...ur-msn-friends/
but appearently it only works on certian strains.

Just trying googling for the problem...an antivirus program / spyware/adware remover might not be able to get rid of it completely.

My 12 year old sister was the one who opened it.

as i mentioned above...
I googled it and found that this was the most common fix for the problem

But the amount of time it took for me to read and go through all of that, it was quicker to just format and start over. all my important stuff isn't on my primary HD.

ive gotten more than a few msgs from various ppl on my contact list about checking picture or some business like that.


never click on the links or files though. immediately i was suspicious. how sends images as zips or .exe files over msn? no one i konw.


i never clicked or DLled them. no virus for me.

There are four people on msn who have it and When i looked at it first, It looked fishy and I asked them, by send a msg if they were actually sending a pic or a file they never replied so I never accepted it .....

Yes plus the way it looks is as if they are sending you a complete folder LOL......

Those have been going around for awhile. A year or so ago I was stupid and clicked on one...and learned my lesson, so I never click on that shit. Fortunately only one person on my list had that virus recently, but it was annoying b/c they kept sending the msg over and over. I blocked them until they got rid of the virus just so I don't make a careless error. Just a tip for the future. Another tip...when anyone sends you something kinda fishy like that...or something like "hey is this you"...NEVER click on it. If anything, ask the person what it is first to make sure it's them.
