Question about Traktor DJ Studio 3

How do you get tracks from itunes to play? I buy most of my music off itunes and it doesnt play. Is there a way to convert it somehow?

Personally, I don't use iTunes, but there should (used to be) an option in iTunes to convert to mp3.

Are you using the function built into Traktor to load your iTunes library? If it's an older version or even if Apple changed something, the tracks may not be able to be read due to the DRM.

You can't play DRM'd iTunes tracks in Traktor (fairplay).

No worky.

There is no direct conversion to MP3 (duh, that's why DRM is on them). Apple does allow you to burn them to CD, which you could re-import as MP3, but yes that would be dumb and you'd lose quality.

Instead, look at one of the tools to strip the DRM, then you can play it in Traktor:

Not according to Apple. (One of the many reasons I avoid itunes like the clap)

I had same problem (this is why i now use audiojelly and beatport)... heres what do, i lose no quality. I have a mac, but I am sure that there are programs like the one I speak of on PC side.

1. Open iTunes
2. Open WireTap (from ambrosia... it allows you to record from any source, INCLUDING iTunes)
3. Record in WireTap
4. Hit play in iTunes
5. You are done

If you record as an uncompressed AIFF you won't lose any quality, and you can just open the file right up in Torq or Abkleton or whatever you use. And you save a CDr, and, most importantly, don't lose any quality.

A few options...

a) Play the tunes out your S/PDIF out port into a non-SCMS capable deck, shoot them back via S/PDIF in. Tascam DA30 or similar DAT deck is perfect for this.

b) If you have a decent soundboard, use its internal mixer to directly record. For example, the M-Audio cards have a "monitor mixer" which you can directly record off of... just bring up the output channel on the monitor mixer and use it as the recording device in your recording app.

c) On the PC, use something like Virtual Audio Cable (http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.html) to pipe the output of one application (itunes, etc) into your recording software.

d) Loop from analog out to analog in. This results in a minor loss of quality, but if you are using a quality soundboard and keep your levels proper, the loss is not very notable.

Current DRM technology only defeats the most casual of users.

I still say strip the DRM right off your tracks. You can do it in seconds to all of your tracks.

These other "solutions" need to be done real time (which will take forever), and re-encoding the track will result in some sound quality loss.

The legality of both is questionable, but since you bought the tracks I wouldn't feel too bad.
