Lol safe = Westchester... I mean a few of the "cities" have their bad sides, but it's not something to fear like Waterbury or Hartford CT - or even the bad parts of New Haven 
Anyways, I commute from White Plains everyday and honestly, if you have the money for a studio that is in a nice, 'safe' part of westchester, you're better off doing the same in NYC or Queens/Brooklyn. I can't do it because I'm too poor lol, so I'm still livnig at home - if I knew of roomates in nyc i would go for it in a second!

I have 2 slightly annoying house mates but the price can't be beat. The neighborhood is great and it's an easy commute either by public transit or driving to the city. The metro north will put you into grand central in 40 something minutes, and I can usually drive there in about 45 as well.
