Always a good solution for curing social ailments.
//There has always been an attraction to youth. In fact, much of our concept of beauty, as a species, is very much rooted in the ideals of youth, exuberance, innocence, freshness - like a new flower, ripe to be picked, its scent savoured. Perhaps a small percentage of humans is genetically predisposed by some rare but present gene to be attracted to extreme youth? Doubtful. If anything, it is a result of development - a sort of nick in upbringing or an incident involving inextricably revolving around social orders and the programming of sexual attraction. But regardless, throughout history, it is quite a represented act - not dissimilar to homosexuality. Now wait. Hold on. I'm not saying that paedophilia and homosexuality are necessarily equivalent - one is of course consensual and the other is... well, it's more complicated than that, but widely considered to be on par with rape. But both are acts represented throughout the human experience and expressed behaviour; but so is murder and greed and love and hate and every act we base upon the pursuit of pleasure or mere existence. I am not defending the act in the least - I could not possibly sympathize with people attracted to children, as I am not that way - but there is something ore to understand to it, if it is something we simply cannot effectively root out of society utterly. What has changed though, much like homosexuality (it's why I draw their similarities) is society's view on it. Pedophilia was a somewhat accepted act amongst ancient Greek nations and societies while similtaneously a reviled one amongst neighbouring nations of its time - are we more advanced than they are? In terms of thought? In terms of society? Is there advancement or is there only difference? Choose your answer carefully...
