Ear plugs were always a funny concept to me. The club owners are paying millions for high end sound systems w/ 100db output. As clubbers we're paying a premium for these sound systems. Then, we go buy $20 earplugs do drop output 20db.

For me, these are my glory days, fuck my hearing when I'm 60. I'll probably have bigger problems from all of the molly, tina, and bonnie I did for 10 years of my youth. Nobody seems to mention that though. We're always responsible w/ things that don't get in our way. Justifying ear plugs but also justifying taking massive amounts of amphetamines, alcohol, or other illicit drugs in combination. Do you think you'll give 2 shits about your hearing when your brain is fried?

I can't recommend earplugs enough. I've been doing this partying thing for many years now and have the hearing to prove it. A couple of years ago my right ear would get "staticy" with loud music or noise. I immediately invested in a $150 pair of custom ear plugs to prevent further damage. They take a custom mold of your ear canal and attach a filter (9db, 15db, or 25db) of your choice to it. A good set of earplugs will replicate the natural response of the ear canal. Foam or cheaper earplugs will distort higher and lower end frequences resulting in a muffled sound. BUT protection is still protection.

I still have random ringing in both ears and on occasions I lose almost all hearing capabilities in one ear. If I don't have plugs in and I'm subjected to something at loud volume I still get the "staticy" sound in my right ear. Yeah, Tinnitus is knocking on my door...

Just my 2 cents...

Odd, that earlove site is selling nothing but etymotic earplugs. Maybe it's a third party. I own the red pair and I will say they're the best pair of plugs I've ever worn. Often times I freak out cuz I can't tell if they're still in my ears are not (so comfortable). They're only $12 at etymotic.com

The ringing means that damage has been done, the damage doesn't go away nor repair itself...multiply all the ringing over the course of your clubbing/partying period and you'll get a sure bet of hearing problems in the future.

You have to find someone that can do the ear mold in your area. They then send the mold off to have it fit with your filter of choice.

Let me email the guy in the Dallas, Texas area to find out the best way of finding someone. Where are you from?

You'd be surprised how much damage you're doing dude. And the coolest part about plugs is as soon as you walk out of the club, there is no ringing. (There never was)

i honestly do not go clubbing every weekend or on a regular basis and if i do it's not at a superclub so it doesn't really bother me. I mean yes i know damage is being done but i want to hear the music at full blast the few times I do go out to events like these. I understand what you guys mean though and if I was a more frequent clubber i would definitely use them. If anything though, I probably did a lot of damage my 1st year of spinning b/c i always had the volume in my headphones to cue full blast lol.
