In before SennHD24.
j00f's choice, no brainer.. the most crisp, cleanest sound out of a set of cans ever..
If you really prefer closed over ear, I still recommend the HD280Pro.
The Sony's don't hold a candle to them in my opinon. Sure, the Sony's have great frequency response and clean mid's, but, my point being that I like the HD280's because they Seal Completely.
I cannot stand dj headphones that just rest against my ear smushing them. They also do not fit tight enough for me.
One more thing.. I can still hear outside noise because of the way they fit.
I previously had the Senn HD280s. I loved them, other than the somewhat shotty construction (I wouldn't go by my own breaking...but our work got a bunch of them and they all had similar construction issues...my pair was the last pair to break.
When I just had to buy new ones, I was torn between the Sennheiser HD 25s and the Ultrasone's (insert varius models).
I went with the Ultrasone DJ1s because I was able to get Guitar Center to knock off another $40 and got them for $130. There is a Pro model and other various Ultrasone models, but they skyrocket in price for a couple not-so-serious features and all sound pretty much the same.
Sound quality between the two is def real close...I like the Ultrasone's because of the technology it uses in the hopes to save my eardrums over time cause god knows I've used horrible headphones for long enough!
The Sony 7506's are awesome, but I find them too heavy/clunky over time....just not a fan of how they feel on my big ass head.
Ultrasone DJ1s.
The Sennheiser's

7506 are my fav, I can wear them for so long and stay comfortable...I love how light they are. The pioneers stick to your head well but it feels uncomfortable after a while. The HD25/55 are nice, tried em a few times, I just dont like how they sit on the ear.

I owned all 4, the Techs, the Pio's, the Sony's 7506 & 700.
Headphones are some what of a personal preference.
SONY
The 7506 are built like tanks, but for me it was hard to hear in loud systems. I had my old pair for over 5 years. The MDV700 suck!!! They break too quickly.
TECHNICS
The Technics RPDH1200 (the big shiny ones everyone uses) broke right away. However, I loved my old Technics RPDJ1200 (the little ones). They lasted me a long time and they never broke. The only issue was one side went bad after several years.
PIONEER
The Pio's HDJ-1000 sit well, they're not as bulky as the Techs, and they sound nice. However, they break too. I'm currently on my first pair but they are cracked now. I will be replacing them soon.
SENNHEISER HD25
I tried them at NAMM and they kick ass!!!! I don't like the construction cuz it feels cheap, but don't let that fool you. They're industrial strength. They are my main contenders for my new set.
A&H XONE HEADPHONES
I still haven't tried them yet. I will probably try them before I make my next purchase.
