I dont "edit" my mixes.. The most i would do is bring up the levels (before I had a decent audio interface). Now with a good sounding mixer (nuo ecler 2) and a tascal us-122l audio interface my mixes turn out great as far as levels go. Now if i mess up a mix/transition, then I usually just leave it if it is minor, otherwise I will start from scratch.
Right now I am using Audacity , but think I might give this wavelab a try.

just cut the ends off the mix so theres no pause b4 you start playing.
Levels if needed
cut set in half for 2cds if needed pretty much it
