Question Headphone Technical Specifications

I was wondering what are the brand names and technical specifications of the headphones you guys are using that play at clubs or venues on a regular basis...I recently invested in some new headphones and wanted to see how mine stack up to the industry standard or any other type of headphone used by the working Dj. I probably should have wrote this thread before I invested

Sony MDR7506 Specs:

Analog Outputs 1/8" with 1/4" adapter
Freq. Response 10Hz-20kHz
Impedence 63 ohms
Kind Closed
Notes Circumaural design
Weight 7.8 oz.

These are the key specs, possibly the most important is the frequency response.

Ask yourself the following questions:

Are they comfortable?
Do they sound nice?

If the answer to these two questions is YES then you've got little to worry about.

I haven't had a chance to play really loud yet as I live and take care of the best I can my 81 year old Grandma, she hates EDM...says it makes her nervous..So I haven't been able to crank it yet to see if I can hear the cue in my headphones better than my old ones...My specifications are close to yours except I have an Impedance of 75 Ohms

Higher Ohms is better in Microphones..is it the same in Headphones?

I have no idea. Ohms was never my strong point...... why don't you give us the make and model of your cans and maybe we can comment on them?

ultrasone's? i was just looking into the hfi680 and hfi780 myself. and headphones don't need to be "dj headphones" to fit a dj's needs well. the sony's that Jarvmeister has were designed for studio monitoring and loads of djs swear by them. also that s-logic natural surround sound title is misleading, as it's not some gay dsp effect that fucks up the sound, but it comes from the displacement of the driver in the headphone. it directs the sound to your outer ear (like speakers and everything else you hear), not the ear canal like most headphones, which makes it more natural.
so basically what i'm trying to say, that your headphones suit a dj's need just fine probably and apparently they are great headphones too.

Would you recommend selling them and going with the Headphones Jarvmeister is using or would you have to test both first?

if you like them, i see no reason the sell them. i have the sony's and am looking into other phones. even though so many swear by the sony's (i did too for some reason), i don't think they're THAT good. they don't isolate outside noise much. also the pads are really thin, so the plastic inside the headphone touches my ear all the time. when i wear them for hours my ear get irritated as fuck because of it. also the sound is a bit harsh IMO. sometimes the highs really hurt as they sound so piercing.
but still, most people on this forum love them. so if you're unsatisfied with your current ones, you should try the sony's out, as it's not like they're perfect for every one, so just buying them thinking they are wouldn't be very wise IMO.

Thanx...cause actually I love my headphones it's just that I haven't been able to crank the music loud enough to hear the isolation of cueing and the song being played...slipping Grandma a xanax today

Naaa...can't do that , she is a big part of my life lols

Headphone, other than the tunes, are about the most personal thing that a DJ has. What works for one person may not work for other. (though if negative comments outweigh the positives, generally that headphone sucks)

Go try out various types of headphones. You'll find one that fits you to your liking
