looping frustrations

so i had a pair of numark axis 9s when i first started djing and the looping was always dead on even with .1% pitch. i upgraded to pioneer 800mk2's and for the life of me i cant get the loop to be even close. am i missing something? for the industry standard i dont get why they cant be easier. anyone have any tips? or suggestions? at this stage in the game looping would open up some more doors. so do you use the pre set or the manual realtime cue in & out... adjusting the loop length manually seems to not have the sensitivity to make it any closer.

im sure this was covered several times before but the search stinks so my apologies for that. had to ask, now shed some light

Its not easier, but it is more precise. You just have to keep trying and practicing till you get it. Oftentimes if the loop is a tad off you can just do minor pitch bends to keep it in time.

I've seen lots of big guys use it flawlessly so it is definitely achievable.

Jup, practice is key. Pioneers are a lot more acurate when it comes to looping, but a little harder to get right. I had to make the switch from Numark to Pioneer too, and also found the Pioneer-loops a pain in the ass. That is, untill I got used to them...

You'll get the hang of it pretty soon, it just requires some timing.

how much is a tad? i mean i haven't bothered practicing with loops yet, but i have cdj 200's and when i start a loop it gets off time pretty quickly.

100% accurate is pretty much impossible, but if you practice often enough, you'll notice your loops starting to get more and more accurate. Being 1 frame of will start a train-wreck effect, just like with beatmatching...

what i don't get is that if i hit the 8 button at any time it should loop from that point exactly. the built in bpm counter is pretty accurate, so why would it matter if i hit it right on the down of 1 you know? it should loop from that very point no matter if the beat is on or off. whatevvv im practicing it now and it seams to matter that its on the beat.screw it karate kid's on tv

Exactly. It loops from that very point. So if the point is off beat, the loop is off beat.

do you manually go and do the start/end points for the loop? or do you just hit the loop buttons and let it do it automatically?

I do them manually, most of the time.

CDJ-1000's sometimes make me want to invest in a PVDJ Grabber...
