When I've tried that in the past I've almost always vomited during one of the hiccups that occurs during the last 3/4 of the beer.

After that though, no more hiccups.

I've found that the most effective way to eliminating the hiccups is a good burp. If you can fake burp, do so. It works for me.

I used to get insane hiccups until one day a lady at a coffee shop introduced this method to me:

take a swig of something (water, juice - whatever)
don't swallow
keep it in your mouth as you BEND FORWARD until you're staring at your knees
once you're at this ass-in-the-air position then swallow hard

Cured. seriously, it works for me everytime
