Lee Jones \ Aria [Aus Music]
Aria (Original Mix)
Aria (Tiger Stripes Remix)
I know this won't pass Mr. Mystery's standards for a review , I'm not a savvy electronic music depicter, I just know what sounds good to me and what doesn't.
They are two rather relaxed tracks, the original being more so than the remix. The remix seems to carry a quick snare to it towards the beginning (of the sample at least).
I like both of them though. I had never heard of Lee Jones before I stumbled across this release.

Tiger Stripes mix is slick. Don't remember where I heard this, I think it was an RA podcast of some kind, love it regardless though

Hm. I just looked at some of the RA podcasts... they look like they could be pretty good. Do you listen to them every week, bas?

Yep! I download them every week with the exception of some I didn't bother to hear. 8 times out of 10 they are fantastic.
From this year alone I'd recommend:
Derek Plaslaiko
Sasse
Kalabrese
JD Twtich
The Juan Maclean
Last Years:
Gregor Treshor
Underworld
Prins Thomas <-one of my favorite in the past 2 years lol
And if you can find Tim Sweeney's from January 07 (or 06 I forget which) I'd strongly recommend that.

Hm. Are they mixes just showcasing new productions or is it a Mary Anne Hobbs style of playing one track, then talking, then playing another?

They're full on DJ mixes mate, no talking and it's not something like Digweed's Transitions. More like a short version of the Essential Mix minus any kind of intro. They tend to be about an hour sometimes a little more, the Prins Thomas one is 2 hours long

alright cool thanks for the info bas... although this is yet another thing to take away from my studies.
I already listen to the Essential Mix and Mary Anne Hobbs show every week, and I am working on getting through all the Milk Run episodes too.
I just got Derek Plaslaiko's episode... givin' it a whirl now.

clovis and bas, you guys need to help me out sometime. I've been wanting to pick up CDJ's for awhile and start mixing music on hardware instead of using strictly Ableton. No idea where to start though.

This is brilliant, one of the best of 08 so far. Prefer the original mix, but both can be useful.
