UPDATE: Swayze’s doctor, Dr. Patrick George, tells People: “Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the time frame of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.” Swayze’s rep adds: “Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family.”

That is exactly what I thought to when I first heard this story run after work today. It was on ET as well though. It is pretty shitty though; 5 weeks isn't that long.

+1 Patrick Swayze would have been my Dad, but MY Dad beat him up the stairs.

My wife's mother passed away from this last January... not a good way to go, thats for sure. I'm sorry to hear when anyone has something like this.

Prognosis' such as these though are not commonly accurate - she was given 6 weeks and lasted 6 months. It's hard to pin down a timeframe when there are so many variables involved. Either way, it's still such a little amount of time, considering most of it will be spent in pain in a hospital bed.
