Monkey Dancer 2 The Slide-n-Glide Poll: wax paper vs x-ray film vs butter rugs

i'm just curious what everyone uses to help the vinyls glide better with less resistance

*wax paper
*butter rugs (or similar special purpose store-bought brand)
*x-ray film (never tried this but interested in hearing from someone that has)
*none (if you try to stay more "hands-off" with your vinyls or don't scratch)

I've got the new Dr. Suzuki ones bc my TT, a Numark TT1520, has pretty crapy torque. Every time I went to cue it up, the entire platter would stop spinning.

Slipmats from HTFR, compared to my old ones they feel like they have half the friction.

Butter rugs here - my old slipmats felt like they had sandpaper on the bottom. I've been really happy with them.

i used to use wax paper and just bought the Dr Suzuki Tablecloths and wow what a difference. now i'm motivated and learning to scratch since the vinyls move SO much easier now

i got my first tt a while ago and because of this thread i tried how the wax paper that came with the tech would change the feel (before that i just used the plain slipmat). and it didn't really change the feel at all. it just makes an annoying swishy sound with it.
so i'm definitely not gonna use that. dunno if i'll get some slippier slipmats at some point. maybe i could try some out if they look better than my current ones (most of them do not IMO).

Most of my turntablism skills were aquired back in the day of using the standard tech slipmats. Find that I don't need to use wax paper or anything.

Also found that the majority of tricks depend more on the x-fader skills and speed with fingers than the ability to move the record back and fourth quickly. Although that's more to do with my style than anything.

Cheers
Nem
