If we could only have parties like this in Montreal I think it would revive the scene. Do you agree?

Forget about all this minimal and electro crap and go back to the basics - music that you want dance your ass off to all night - even sober.

Times are changing, you better get used to it, or you'll blend to the background!

Has it occurred to you that maybe other people dont like the same music as you?

How is hard techno going to revive the scene?

The scene has gone in a direction you dont like, I dont like it all that much either but its the way shit works.

Oh, and some would say you NEED drugs/lots of booze to enjoy the kind of music you've posted.

That track is pretty minimal

Drum patterns used as melodies FTW

Im complete opposite, I used to be able to dance all night at Aria sober when it was techno! So much energy in techno its hard to not move! These days there is more going on in the music but if I wanna dance past 3am sober I need hard beats that dont make me think only move.

I miss the good old hard techno as well. Remember Chris Liebing at Swirl 2005? That was the shizzat! Now he's even shifted to a more minimal style.

Here's his 2005 Mayday set, nice badass beats:

All in all, you should'nt need to worry. 2008 will see schranz and techno techno djs leaving the minimal sphere. All in all, I think that's a pretty good thing. That means less posers and bandwagonners in minimal techno and microhouse. Please leave it to the real fans

I know exactely what you mean! Also the music they play lately is very blended - sometimes it sounds like the same track all night long.
I went to that resolution party and the music was really boring. I mean it was creative and sounded cool but I can guarantee you if some upbeat techno (not exatcly hard techno) were played or even some older trance the crowd would have been way more exicited.

I really miss Friday nights at ARIA a few years back. I used to bring new people to the scene there and they'd thank me for bringing them and were dying to go again.

Now when I bring a new person to say stereo or circus they don't really care and don't see what's the big deal. They are usually bugging me to go and think I am wierd and wonder what I see in the music. That is probably the main reason the scene is dead. The music now is really only enjoyed by a subgroup of people.

Anyways, there nothing you can do. I just wait for a good techno dj and go to those shows only. It's cheaper that way I guess.

Anyone think we could ever get Jeff Mills to play in Montreal?

You keep contradicting yourself dude.

You say you want techno like Richie Hawtin and Jeff Mills, but you say you hate minimalism.

Basically, what you like is upbeat, harder techno.

Don't mix that with minimalism.

Richie Hawtin and Jeff Mills are sone of the major advocates for stripped-down techno.

Minimalism doesn't mean it has to be slow.
