Review: Danny Howells @ Pop Tarts 4 (80s Night) @ Automatic Slims 3/25/2008

uhhhh... went for about an hour. terrible music (not even 80s). danny howells was dropping like dr. dre and beastie boys then some 70s shit. i only heard like 2 80s songs the entire time i was there. i was actually kinda interested in seeing how danny was going to mix these songs together too. he didnt. quick fade in/out or stop the song completely, have a couple seconds of silence, then press play on the next track. totally unimpressive. atleast it was free. i was looking forward to hearing 80s shit, but as soon as i heard all the early 90s rap/rock and some 70s shit, i was like "yea okay, lose interpretation of '80s' i guess" and left.

I knew it was gonna bomb. That is so horrible they did not play 80's music. I would have bee-lined for the exit as soon as I heard Dr Dre as well.

You guys are nuts. I was there for only a couple of hours and heard plenty of 80s music. There was no Dr. Dre dropped. That was NWA - Straight outta compton which is an 80's hip hop song. 1988 or around that time.

I also heard Billy Ocean, Madonna, Footloose soundtrack songs and Baltimora Tarzan Boy which people seemed to like and surprisingly knew. Personally, I prefer the more club oriented and goth 80s sound instead of the pop 80s music.
