------ REVIEW -------
Hi people!!!

Last night was freakin' FUN!!!! I missed all you guys and seeing all of you again made me really happy. All day long I kept looking forward to seeing all my old friends again. And when I finally did, I was really happy. I know I missed some of you and I know some went to the other club, but we'll see each other again.

My friend Nikki and I showed up to Vanguard at around 11:30pm. Parking went way up. It went up from $10 to $20!!!! WTF!!!! Anyhow, We went in through the Hollywood entrance and got in with no problems. By the time we got in, K-Sky was playing. Great set. My friend Nikki really liked her so we danced for a bit.

Than we were off to look for my fellow TA's. Immediately hitting the patio, I see Michelle, Sarah, Michelle (OC), Greg, Rea, and the rest of the gang. We all hanged out, caught up in past times, laughed a little, and danced alot. By this time I wanted to surprise my old friend Austin Scott. We had talked earlier in the day but I didn't tell him I was going. Sarah pointed me to where he was at and BAM!!! I surprised him. Great seeing you again Austin! Austin introduced me to Alan B. Nice meeting him.

Second Sun was FUN!!! I was really impressed with their show. They are nothing but energy. Sander Van Doorn was cool, but not exactly my cup of tea. Actually, he kinda bored me. Nikki really liked him, so we stayed there til about 3am.

Shout outs to everyone I saw. I'm really bad with names, so I know I'll miss some of the people I met last night, but I'll try my best.

Sweetcandy Girl, Mom (TSG), GypsyGirl, Lety, GPC, K-Sky, Sammy, Drew, Robert Stern, Yakaroo, Mike, Bernice, Austin Scott, KittyCrush, Rea, Mozart, Andrieux, and I know for a fact I'm missing some of you that came up to me to say hi. Sorry, Alcohol + My Poor Memory = NO GOOD!!! hahaha Eitherway, it was so much fun hanging out with so many of you that I forgot how much I miss the EDM Scene. I'll be out for Tiesto's Friday show @ Vanguard, and Tiesto's Saturday show @ Wavehouse in San Diego. See you guys there!!!

You guys are the best.

When I got there around 10:30, the parking attendants said the lot (where I have always self-parked") was "valet only," so I asked them about the lot directly to the east (where I've self-parked before), but they didn't manage it. When I told them I'd drive to that lot instead to self-park, they let me self-park for $15.

So, all of the ads for Vanguard advertise parking for $10, even for tickets that I've already bought for a month or more ahead?

All this and $10 Valet Parking right next to the club? This is GIANT!

What kind of business changes its rates whenever it feels like it, regardless of what was advertised? Nightclubs! Makes me wonder if that $15 or $20 is really going to the management or someone's pocket?

Entry was a breeze, many thanks to Greg aka Cool1g for getting us on the guestlist. Soon as I got into the main room, KSky was playing to a mostly packed floor, and the music was SO good that I immediately went onto the dance floor. Kristina just killed it, some of my friends thought that her set was the best of the night! I hope that she comes back way more often, as it's been a long time since I've seen the club going off that well early in the night!

Second Sun was second to none! They brought the energy up so high that I felt a little sorry for Sander (or anyone) who would come on after that! They just went ape shit up on the stage, pounding their Virus keyboard and other synths to the extreme!

Sander came on late, around 2 a.m. I think. I was tired at this point, since I hadn't expected to be on the dance floor almost the entire night! Sander's set for me was mixed, I like a lot of it but the music didn't always flow so well for me. Take the lyrics out of the "King of My Castle" song, and it's a f'n awesome remix though! The number of insanely good quality tracks he played made up for the others I didn't like so much. Sander is always so energetic, and he brings this into the music so it helped me stay until 4 when some brave people endured being pushed out by security and got autographs and pics up on the stage. Sander was really happy to be there with his fans at the end, and overall it was a great night!

Pics and a few vids to come, check back here...

I had tickets for Sander K but I didn't go. If you would've been there, I would've gone. My original plans were to club hop. But since you texted me that you didn't go after all, I just stayed at Vanguard all night.

good point about the parking fees still being marketed at $10...it was raised earlier this year - i'll send Giant an email to see about getting that changed on groovetickets.

i thought both Second Sun and SVD were good. i'm not quite a trance-lover but still had a good time. finishing the nite off with Sander K on the terrace at Avalon at 830 am was a great end to the nite.

Re: <REVIEW & PHOTOS> Sander Van Doorn @ Vanguard

woody, didnt know you were there then again my head was else where trying to figure out the nights details w/ my friend. i think i was in back sitting down w/ my friend for that group picture.

didnt catch SvD and even if i did it would of only been for 15 minutes before i had to leave Ksky played an awesome set though! i can't say the same for second sun, it was pretty bad IMO.

first time at vanguard and i have to say its a nice club but reminds me too much of ruby skye, crowd wise, so im glad i was able to find some LATAs the laser is nice but boring as its just green! at least for that night. vangaurd should really invest in a multi color laser, some kyro and get rid of that hip hop room and itll be perfect!

Also big thanks to Rukes on helping me get in w/ my camera even though i didnt really even use it due to again my head being else where

I tried parking on the side parking lot but I guess it was full. So, the guy tells me to go park across the street for $15.00. I drive over there and that guy says, "$20.00." WTF? The other guy just told me $15.00. He then says, "Oh well it just went up to $20.00."
I batted my eyes a bit and said I needed my last $5.00 for water. He let me pay $15.00.
Anyway, getting in was a breeze since I got there alittle after 12:00.
Missed K.Sky, Second Sun kinda bored me, and SVD knocked my socks off! I love SVD!
Anyway, it was cool seeing everyone and of course meeting some new peeps too!

You guys are being nice with the review, cuz Sander was awful. I'm a huge SVD fan, I've seen him live half a dozen times over the last three years, but his set was just plain bad. No flow, mostly so so tracks being played, boring really, and nothing like his past sets which were absolutely epic.

The system sounded like crap too, not at all like it normally sounds. I don't if there was a technical problem or if SVD was just over revving the ******.

Second Sun was entertaining to say the least, but I wasn't really feeling them either.

I did enjoy the Austin Scott on the patio - good stuff. And of course hanging with peeps is always a good time.

Well I've only seen SVD once before but I don't recall if his set was great or so-so. Maybe it was OK cuz I think I would have remembered if he had me dancing the way he did this past Saturday. Hellz, I was really just waiting for him to play RIFF. That track always does it to me but I think I'm now over it. I still liked his set better than Second Sun. They bored me!
I also must say that the outside DJs were playing some great tunes! Never a dull moment!

those parking prices are ridiculous, i remember last year that parking lot next to the vanguard (non-valet) one was ten bucks. now its $20. So i guess the valet one is cheaper since its $15. It took em like 10min to find my car, I have a feeling they park it in a corner a few blocks away or something! haha. ok im done venting. anyway, second sun rocked it
