heya guys...

i got my tables like 3 months ago or something and lately when i want to cue back and forth like, scratch back over first bass beat scratch forward, back, forward, etc... to get in the "groove" with the live record, if i do it too fast the motor like skips or something, it makes this weird vrrr feel and the table vibrates slightly...

why is this happening?

low torque? motor getting fucked? i dont scratch with it, i just move the record back and forth lightly, like every other dj would (i dont press on the table hard)

thanks in advance..

first of all, when you 'beat rock' make sure the platter is still turning. there is a reason for your slipmats. If i can remember correctly the r-60's are direct drive, so stopping the platter won't damage them too seriously (unless you make a habit of it). rock the record back an forth, not the platter.

yea i do it lightly, and i dont press on the table i press on the slipmat..

i have this
-------------- record
-------------- furry slipmat
-------------- plastic slipmat
-------------- table
in that order.
the table sometimes slows down alot when im spinning it backwards or sometimes even stops..

my suggestiong.. take a record and put on and start the platter.. then just hold the record so that the record and fuzzy slipmat are still but the platter is still moving.. just get a feel for the amount of friction it takes to not actually make the platter stop moving.. so u can get a feel for how easily u can move around the record w/o effecting the platter too much.. i dunno that might help you out a little.. it doesn't take too much pressure to hold the record but let the platter keep moving.. i hope im understanding the right question.
