Yeah...

Hi, I've been playing piano since I was five and my parents are both concert pianists as their profession so that's the kind of music I was raised on...are you looking for any other pieces in particular? It's cool to find people who are trance-addicted but also interested in classical, sometimes the two kinds have a lot of things in common...

There are lots of different kinds, I can't even begin to summarize any of the different time periods, plus I don't know all the information about them myself, I just tend to ask my parents or their friends...have you heard William Orbit's two great classical techno remixes, one of which is Barber's adagio for strings and the other is Ravel's pavane por un infante difunte (I like Ferry Corsten remix of this). The original classical piece by Samuel Barber called 'Adagio for strings' is so great! It's really beautiful and non-standard sounding. It's got dramatic, really weird chords and a moving melody...and the Ravel piece (in english it means 'havana for a dead princess' (or 'baby') has one of the most beautiful melodies I've ever heard! Here are a few very standard classical pieces that many people know and love, you probably have heard them:

Air (or 'Air on the G string') by Bach
Jesu, Joy of man's desiring by Bach (definitely sure you heard this one, I didn't know what it was called until last year when we played it in concert band, it's really great)
Wachet Auf! (sleeper's awake) by Bach
Overture to the sun (I don't know who this is by)
Pomp and Circumstance by Edward Elgar
Beethoven - Moonlight sonata (really overplayed, but I think it's great just the same)
Beethoven - Pastoral symphony (his 6th) 1st movt. very pretty...
Triumphal march from 'Aida' by Verdi (this opera tune is used by U96 in their techno song 'underwater'...cool)
Fingal's cave by Mendelssohn
Reformation symphony (#5) by Mendelssohn
Tocatta and Fugue in D minor by Bach (there is a string adaptation they made for the disney movie 'fantasia' that is kind of odd, but the original is written for the organ, which Bach himself played
Beethoven - 7th symphony (this is a very dramatic and heavy melody)

Hope you're test goes well...

classical is def the bomb. I have plyed in band since 4th grade and when i hear a great tune we play in band I rather listen then play
example

Alfred Reed - Russian Chirstmas Music

Has anyone ever heard this song played by a wind ensemble or orchestra?? You will melt because its the most melodic piece I ever heard even though its contemporary. The finale is 2.5 minutes long and what a finale it is.

I am now into more contemp stuff ex...2002 trance!! But I won't turn down a song of another genre because its sounds too incredible not to!!!!!!

one more in chance - Variations on a korean folk song. Phat asian wind band tune I recommend.

Pachbel canon is REALLY beautiful...

For recent classical stuff though I have listened to a bit of Phillip Glass's minimalistic stuff, sooooooooooooooo cool/nice to hear. It's really repetative but some of the piece's are incredible.
