$1800 is close to what I spent on a pair of used CDJ800MK1's and a Xone:32. Definitely give Craigslist a chance. Since you're also from Vancouver pay a visit to the buy and sell section of fnk.ca.

All these guys are making very good suggestions. With that said, I'm curious about what technical limitations you are running into. Torq with the xponent, as long as it's working properly, gives you more control and flexibility than you could ever get with 1800 dollars worth of real gear. Seriously, you've got 2 decks with excellent looping capability, a good FX processor, fully functional sampler, and a mixer. Really, thats all you could ever need.
I can understand wanting to use more expensive equipment because it feels better, but if you're expecting to be able to actually do more with the music than you already can you're going to be disappointed.

+1
To OP: Are you using auto beatmatching, bc that'll make anything easier.

well when i say technical limitations, im mainly referring to the facet that xponent and torq is quite easy to use. In a way it feels like im cheating even when i dont use the sync option. I'm able to visually see where the track is on the computer screen. I understand that many DJs hook their setup to torq and use it the same way but Id like to try it without.
Also, have to load songs from my mac is a pain in the ass. My mac was bought for the purpose of studio recording and having to load all my songs from my desktop onto my mac every once in a while is a pain in the ass. haha
thanks though, I know that the xponent is a great piece of equipment but Id like to move on from that
