midi problem...?

have synth connected via audio leads and midi.... midi registering in cubase and if i press record on audio channel it will record any notes i play.... problems is if i draw in midi it doesnt trigger synth... up until recently i used vst so new to all this...

if anyone could give me some ideas or info id be more than happy....many thanks in advance

You have to set MIDI Out, to send from Cubase and into the synth.

Also, make sure u are using Channel 1

yeah have set input to all midi inputs and output novation and light is flashing on synth so it is recieveing midi notes but no sound.... prbably something simple and that what annoying me so much

So the synth is flashing to signify it's receiving MIDI information, but if you plug headphones into the synth, no sound is happening.

It sounds like a MIDI channel setting on your synth. Read the documentation, find out how to change the MIDI Channel settings. Depending on the synth, there may be a number of modes which may sound like they'll receive all channels, but that won't be the case. Personally I find it easiest to just set a specific channel for each synth (if you have a lot of synths, you'll definitely want to do this).
