One Album, many tracks.

If an album has say 10 tracks, than how many minimum tracks must be good for you to call it a 'good album'?

For me in a 10 track album, atleast 3 should be good.. 30%!!

Most of Ferry's album has 12-13 tracks but only one worth listening. Isnt it fair to call it a bad album if dosent reach the 30% mark?

A good album should have only one or two "forgivable" tracks. Otherwise, it's a shit album that has a couple of good tracks on it.

Track placement is a lot more important to me then the individual track when listening to a mix cd. I want to be taken on a journey. Just because the CD has 10 straight bombs doesn't mean it is going to be on repeat in my car for a year.

There have been countless times I went to buy a track that I heard in a mix and when I listened to it soley on it's own, I was unimpressed. The dj was just able to make it work in his set and that's that.

Why would you call that a "good" album? Wouldn't it be more logical to call it a mediocre (or bad) album with a few good tracks?

I wouldn't call a painting "good" if only the bottom third was good and the rest was boring / crap.

There's more than enough decent music out there to have high standards. Unless you're lazy and you just want to hear shit music.

Gotta agree with bojingles on this one. The whole is as good as the sum of its parts. If you make a milkshake with 2 parts delicious ice cream and 8 parts turd, it's still gonna be a crappy [ba-dum-bum] shake.

That's not the say the ice cream wouldn't taste great on its own!
