Seems like I forgot to tell how newbie I am. I'm almost totally new to trance. I discovered trance music past year and loved it (before that I composed metal). I need you to help me with some definitions, please:
Atmosphere: what I understand for atmosphere is a background smooth sound that gives an harmonic base to the track. Am I right?
Texture: what do you mean with texture? More like supersaw or something? I dunno, I like the sounds I put in it. I guess it's my personal taste
Pads: what are the differences between pads and synths? I thought they were the same thing (I told you I was a complete newbie ).
Sweeping: ???
As for the drums, I didn't even put effort on them, since beat blog is going to make them.
Oh, and I'll try with more reverb.
Sorry for asking so many things, and thanks again for your help |
Atmosphere - usually referring to the combination of pads and sounds in the background that give a "floating" feel or anything actually (also lack of the same things creates an atmosphere... its a "feeling" in general)
texture - the overall sound of your instruments, if you use a harder kick, softer bass, harder synths and such...
pads - a synth usually imitating a string section and giving usually basic chords, this type of sound usually is programmed with a slow attack and release to "blend" the chord progression more smoothly...
sweeping - usually a pad or other sustaining instrument that on top of it usually is a filter (low pass/band pass/high pass) which is automated to make the sound "move" thru frequencies... (similar to the wah-wah pedal you must be familiar from your metal productions...)
BTW i would love to work on some metal togather with you.. all the friends i have dont have a clue except for mediocre playing skills on guitar... and u also into electronic music so maybe well have some common ground...
