Tiesto at Ruby Skye May 23rd

I'm surprised no one is talking about the problems at Ruby Skye on Friday the 23rd. Was anyone else stuck outside for freakin 2 hours like we were waiting to get in WITH tickets?

WTF????? Total BS!!! It virtually ruined the entire experience. They kept telling us about fire codes and shit like that. How can you oversell an event that badly? Not only was it cold, we were getting harrassed every 5 mins. by another homeless person. Believe me, not a fun experience for SF 1st timers.

Anyone know what time Tiesto went on that night? They kept telling us he was going on at 12:30 and finishing at 4. But he was done at 3 so I'm assuming he went on at 11:30 and they were lying to us outside. Can someone clarify what actually happened and why at 12:30 it suddenly got easier to get in?

Add to all that, while the club was busy, it sure as hell was NOT packed like it would be in Vegas or something.

Any additional info would be helpful. Thanks.

dude,

why should this be expected? You buy tickets, you have a basic expectation to enter a club within a reasonable period of time. The folks around the corner at the Westin were furious that everyone was blocking their entrance. Didn't sound like anyone expected this.

Listen, if it were a long line that was moving, that would be one thing. But the damned thing barely moved. That's all I'm saying.

Other than in NYC, I've never seen it this bad.

That's the best response u can give me?

I got there at 10:45. That's not early enough? I'd like some of whatever u guys are smoking. B/c if that's normal in SF, you guys are truly in another world of your own.

Actually, I would say its def not normal in SF.

I dunno whats up. I wasn't there. I took the night off to let Michelle go while I watched our son. That said, I have never heard of any pre-sale complaints at Ruby...ever. EVER.

And nothing can be worse than some of the lines I've been in LA. I was about 30th in line once (for Tiesto) and once doors opened it still took over an hour for me to get in...because everyone and their momma was butting and bothering security. That night sucked for me.

Also, firecodes are very serious around here. Maybe it doesnt get Vegas packed, but along with size, the number of exits and path to the exit has to be considered. Ruby basically has the front entrance and thats it. That's the exit. Place can maybe hold more, but if it makes an emergency exit unsafe, then capacity is gonna be brought down. A lot of othe venues have side and back emergency exits..this allows capacity to go up.

There can be a set capacity but if the fire marshall comes and sees it slammed they will halt the line until they do their inspect.

I've been KICKED OUT of a club because of fire code. It was at a Tiesto gig, actually. At Mezzanine years ago, 2002 or 2003. Was in the (enclosed) smoking area, suddenly the doors close and they tell everyone go around front...didnt say why, but I go around front and am in line again for almost two hours....Fire Marshall told them to make us all re-enter because they felt it was over a safe capacity. It was freezing out and my jacket was in coat check. It sucked. I heard that the club wasnt at its permit capacity, but the fire marshall still made them do it.
