How is everyone doing out here? Kelly (yankeebaby) is one of my bestest buddies in the whole wide world, and of course Wai, and Kellybelly are right up there too! I can't wait to see you and your crew during the weekend of Aug. 15 when I'll be visiting your turf with a bunch of buddies of mine.
We're planning to hit at least KC game vs. the Yankees; I've never been to Yankee stadium so I'm really excited about that! I'll be bringing my mitt, lol.
Kelly mentioned something about PVD at the park on Aug. 15. Can anyone help with some links/times/details/costs of cool events to check out in NYC that weekend? Does anyone have an "in" for some cool seats for the Yankees?
Looking forward to this, my 3rd visit to the Big Apple, but the first time that I'll know a whole bunch of familiar faces!!
Can't wait to see you in T.O. 2 weeks prior to that, Kels!
Cheers,
Fahad
ps. we'll be there from Wednesday, Aug. 13 leaving on Monday, Aug. 18. Also if anyone knows of any decent places to stay (student's budget) for that period, let me know (hot NYC girls' apartments included )
It's actually on Sat the 16th and it's not going to be at the park this year it's going to be at Pier 54 which is something new. Should be interesting.
The afterparty is going to be M.I.K.E. and a tba at Love for a Classics Night. Last year's event was so amazing, I'm sure it was a #1 event for a lot of people on here, including myself. We're all looking forward to this one as well. As far as I know there's no official thread about that yet, but some of the information about it can be found here:
As far as baseball... someone else better answer that. I am sadly uninformed.

haha fahad your enthusiasm amuses me to the fullest!!
I just watch KC vs. Yanks last weekend I get my tickets from stubhub.com. Not sure if they will send the tickets to canada, but you can check and/or send em to me and I will hold em
Like erica said, pvd is the 16th with a classics night after party. I am sure more events will be announced that weekend, so check the event thread on top of the NYTA forum
Edit: try DoubleTree on Lexington and 50'sish. Nada stayed there, as did a friend from highschool. Its peak time so hotels are gonna be EXPENSIVE, but its the best price considering its in midtown.
lol cant wait to see you fahad!! Who are you bringing?
btw I think Laura is also coming down for PVD shenanigans! TOTA FEST!!

If you can handle roughing it try the West Side Y maybe?
You can get rooms with incredible views. The furniture is Ikea-like and does just fine. The bathrooms on the upper floors are newish and you get a whole room with a shower in it and everything to yourself.

If you're looking for a place just to crash and change your clothes, there are a lot of youth hostels, especially uptown. You can get a private room for about $50, although there are no bathrooms in the bedrooms, you have to share. Good thing is that if you're a big group, you can get a big room with several beds for like $30 a person. First time I visited NY I stayed in one of those and had no problem. You'll have more money to spend in NYC (we all know how expensive it can get) if you don't really mind the place so much.
Here's a link with some hostels: http://www.hostels.com/en/us.ny.ny.html
